Say 'Hello' to single-use plastic! Haridwar's 4 'Green Outposts' became game-changers

Municipal Corporation volunteers are deployed at these green posts, who are making the devotees aware about the ill effects of single use plastic on the environment, Ganga and human health. Those devotees who are found using polythene or other single use plastic, that plastic is being taken from them and compostable green bags are being distributed free of cost in its place. This initiative of the Municipal Corporation is not limited to just changing plastic, but 'Green Chowki' has been developed as a powerful center for environmental protection and public awareness. Here the devotees are being told about the harm caused by the use of plastic and are being motivated to adopt environment-friendly alternatives. The initiative aims to make the Kanwar Yatra cleaner, greener and environmentally responsible. The Municipal Corporation has also associated public representatives with this campaign. Krishna Nagar Ward Councilor Mr. Parminder Singh Gill inspected the Green Outpost and praised this innovative initiative of the Municipal Corporation and described it as an exemplary effort towards environmental protection. This campaign is being conducted under the direction of Municipal Commissioner IAS Shri Nandan Kumar. During this, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Mr. Deepak Goswami, Chief Sanitation Inspector Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Sanitation Inspector Mr. Anil Kumar and the Municipal Corporation team were present. Municipal Corporation Haridwar believes that 'Green Chowki' will play an important role in reducing the use of single use plastic during Kanwar Mela-2026 as well as in conveying the effective message of environmental protection to millions of devotees.
