Haridwar (Kapil Kumar) l In view of Kanwar Mela 2026, under the direction of District Magistrate Mayur Dixit and on the instructions of Food Safety Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, the Food Safety Department conducted an intensive checking campaign in Chandighat, Mangalore and Rodibelwala areas through three teams. A total of 42 dhabas, hotels, restaurants and food establishments were inspected during the campaign.
During the inspection, 12 food samples (milk products, spices, cheese, red chilli powder and carbonated water) were sent to the laboratory for testing. In Chandighat area, notices were issued to 5 establishments for not displaying food licenses and food safety display boards, while 12 packets of bakery products without labels and dates were removed. Food traders were instructed not to sell stale food, keep food items covered, display rate lists, keep purchase bills safe and maintain cleanliness. The administration clarified that there will be no compromise on the quality of food items and the health of the devotees during the Kanwar Mela.
