Major action by Haridwar Police under Operation Prahar, two miscreants arrested with illegal pistols

(Ombir Singh) Haridwar. Under "Operation Prahar" being run by Haridwar Police to maintain law and order during Kanwar Mela and tighten the noose on criminals, Kotwali Jhabreda Police has arrested two accused with illegal weapons. According to the police, both the accused were planning to commit some major crime. One of these accused was also trying to spread terror by openly threatening people on social media.

Major action by Haridwar Police under Operation Prahar, two miscreants arrested with illegal pistols

On the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police, Haridwar, Inspector-in-charge Jhabreda formed a police team under the special operation being conducted against suspicious persons, vehicles and active criminals. On 05 August 2026, during checking on Hirahedi road located on Iqbalpur-Tanshipur road, the police arrested Shubham son of Subhash Kumar resident of Bhistipur, police station Jhabreda, district Haridwar and Shivam son Pratap resident of village Majhaul, police station Deoband, district Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh).

During the search, 02 illegal pistols and .315 bore pistol were recovered from their possession. 02 live cartridges were recovered. Police investigation revealed that several cases were already registered against the accused Shivam under several serious sections including attempt to murder, Arms Act, NDPS Act. A case has also been registered against Shubham under the Arms Act. The police have registered a case against both the accused under the Arms Act and have started further legal action. Police say that the operation against suspects and active criminals will continue.
