After this, policemen, army personnel and local volunteers conducted a massive cleanliness campaign in the ghat and surrounding coastal areas. Through joint efforts, about 6 tonnes of waste was collected, which included plastic as well as dry and wet waste. The collected waste was sent for proper disposal. During the campaign, police and army personnel stood shoulder to shoulder and gave the message of clean Ganga and environmental protection. Through this initiative, the message of national unity, civic duty and awareness of cleanliness was also conveyed to the common people.
Commandant of Sikh Regiment Artillery said that it is the national responsibility of every citizen to keep our natural and public heritage including the Ganga clean. Expressing gratitude to the army personnel and local citizens for their cooperation in the campaign, Haridwar Police reiterated its resolve to continuously cooperate in campaigns related to public interest and environmental protection in the future also.
